How to Become a GSL Tenant
Step 1:
Arrange a Viewing
Looking to rent with friends?
Take a look at our student accommodation options and choose the one that suits your needs. Once you have picked a house or flat that you like the look of, choose a member of the group to become the lead tenant to arrange your viewing with us.
We recommend choosing a viewing time that you can all attend.
Simply get in touch with us once you find the one for you.
Step 2:
The Paperwork
When you are ready to take the next step and apply for the property, you will be asked to complete a tenant application form and provide identification to prove you are a student.
You will need to have a UK Guarantor - this is usually a parent or guardian. We will contact the Guarantor
Don't worry; if there are any sections on the form that you don't understand, Gloucester Student Lettings Ltd will guide you through them.
Step 3:
Secure your chosen property
Once your application has been submitted, we require a £90 holding fee to secure your ideal property.
Until we have received this from all members of a group, the property will not be secured and you will be at risk of missing out.
Contact our team to learn how to pay this.
Step 4:
Your Deposit
Once secured and all applications have been accepted, we'll take your property deposit and register this within a tenancy deposit scheme, either TDS or Mydeposits.
The deposit will be held until the end of the tenancy and returned to you in full unless any deductions need to be made to cover issues such as damage that exceeds fair wear and tear and exceeding utility allowances.
So, what happens next?
If you have signed all documents and paid the deposit, you should think about how you will be paying for your rent. We allow our student tenants to choose between either monthly or termly payments - by term is the most popular choice as this runs in line with student loans. You will be contacted a month or so before the tenancy is due to provide more information regarding where and how to pick up your keys!
